The Florumbra Threnedeer is a hauntingly elegant soul-creature with obsidian fur marked by veins of molten light. These glowing channels pulse with a slow, radiant heat, giving the creature the appearance of carrying embers beneath its skin.
 

Blooming from its back and ribcage are luminous spirit-flowers unlike those of any living plant. Their petals are shaped from memory, sorrow and reverence, and they emerge in response to the grief of those the creature passes. Each bloom is said to represent a lost loved one, an untold goodbye or a forgotten name, ensuring that no two Threnedeer ever appear exactly alike.
 

Its antlers are gnarled and barklike, so easily mistaken for dead branches that the creature may seem half woodland spirit at first glance. Yet these antlers subtly bend toward nearby grief, sensing pain much as trees sense the coming of a storm. The tail tapers into vapour, trailing soft strands of old voices in the air behind it—usually inaudible, but undeniably present.
 

The Florumbra Threnedeer never seems to look directly at those around it. Its ember-bright eyes instead appear to gaze through a being, as though watching the weight of the past fall away like dust.
