The Avesibil is a massive and mysterious bird of prey, roughly comparable in size to a condor and possessing a wingspan of up to twenty feet. Its feathers render it completely invisible throughout most of the day. Its true form can be seen only around sunrise and sunset, when golden light refracts across its plumage and briefly reveals the enormous bird beneath.
 

Wild Avesibils are solitary ambush predators that use their invisibility to approach large mammals undetected. Their usual prey includes deer, elk and smaller livestock. Despite hunting alone, they return with captured prey to colonies where other members of their species gather.
 

Avesibils possess extraordinary physical strength and can carry as much as ten times their own body weight. This allows them to seize heavy prey and makes domesticated individuals particularly valuable as aerial transport animals.
 

Witches have successfully tamed and trained Avesibils to carry riders and transport carriages between distant towns and cities. Carriages drawn by them appear to move through the air without any visible means of support. A trained Avesibil keeps the carriage steady, creating a smooth and comfortable journey even across considerable distances. In exchange for their service, the birds receive reliable meals and protection.
